1976 Phillies catchers

It would have been easy to simply put Bob Boone up as the catcher of the 1976 Phillies. He started the most games (102) and made the All Star team (which was played in Philadelphia). However, I thought it was important to include Tim McCarver also. Before he became one of the most obnoxious announcers on the planet, he was Steve Carlton's personal catcher. He was behind the plate on 31 of Lefty's 35 starts that year. He only started 6 other times with another pitcher.

Cather - Bob Boone

Lefty's catcher - Tim McCarver
When Steve and I die, we are going to be buried in the same cemetery, 60 feet and 6 inches apart.
~ Tim McCarver

Great cards, but you forgot Johnny Oates.

What about Larry Cox and Jim Essian? Sorry, I have a soft spot for backup catchers. Great work.

Sorry guys, this project is only for starters. There are not enough good pics of the non-starters to make it work. Besides Johnny Oates already has a great 1976 topps card.

I just heard today that this clown (McCarver) is going into the hall of fame!
