1967 All Star HR

MLB Network has been running a series of All Star Game highlight films to fill their programming schedule over the last couple of weeks. Yesterday I caught a good one. Here is a snippet from the 1967 All Star Game played in Anaheim.

This is a clip of Dick Allen smashing a opposite field solo HR in the second inning. The pitcher is Twins starter Dean Chance. The announcer is Hall of Famer Jack Brickhouse. The National League won this game 2-1 in 15 innings.

ebay watch: Sox 35mm slide

As I have stated before, I am always on the look out for new Dick Allen images.

Last week there was a bunch of beautiful, previously unknown Dick Allen color slides up for auction on eBay. Unfortunately, despite bidding on a couple of them, I did not win any of them. The image to the right went for over $200, which is a clear testament to how popular Dick Allen is, even 30+ years after he retired from baseball.

If you are the person that won this slide, please send me an email. I would like very much to buy an 8x10 (or larger print) of this image. I promise I won't copy and/or sell it. I just want it for my collection. I am also willing to work a trade with any of the images I currently own.

Thanks in advance.

May 1975

Here is an old UPI photo that I acquired in the last couple of weeks.

The caption reads: "Astros Milt May forced at first by Phils Dick Allen after he was caught off base on a Enos Cabell fly to Jay Johnstone in right, in the first inning at Vet Stadium in Philadelphia 5/31"

The Phillies gave up 12 runs in the 8th inning and lost this game 15-3. DA had 2 hits and 2 RBIs. You can see the details of the game here. If you read the play by play, the play shown in the picture actually happened in the 2nd inning.
