White Sox photo gallery updated

I woke up this morning and decided I wanted to take some time and get things organized on my computer. I have not updated the DAHOF Chicago White Sox image gallery in a couple of years. Since I am constantly grabbing new photos, there was a lot to add. One of my first tasks was to organize all of the DA WHITE SOX images I have gathered in one place, in all I have 104 pictures to share, including this one which appeared on the cover of Jet Magazine in August of 1972.

Check out the re-launched WHITE SOX IMAGE GALLERY HERE. I have also updated the link bar and deleted the old page from my old URL. Hopefully I will get the 1975-76 Phillies and 1977 Athletics galleries updated soon.

Enjoy.

July 1976 in Pittsburgh

I found this previously unknown DA image yesterday while I was meandering around on the web. It was taken in July of 1976 in Pittsburgh's Three Rivers Stadium. The Phils played the Pirates in Pittsburgh during the day on July 3rd and a doubleheader on July 4th. Allen started at first and batted fifth in all three of those games.

Now that I look back on it, doesn't it seem strange MLB did not schedule a game on July 4th, 1976 in Philadelphia?

Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame

Last month, Dick Allen was selected to be enshrined in the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame. The actually ceremony will take place in November. I am working my schedule to possibly be there.

Here is the article from The Inquirer. With some great quotes. The comments at the bottom reflect the continued controversy surrounding the man.

On fans: "I get stopped all the time by these [middle-aged] fellows whose dads had taken them to the ballpark, I appreciate them. And they appreciate me. Because I didn't cheat them."

On the Hall of Fame: "I don't even know how that [Hall voting] works, Do you politic or something like that? I think everything speaks for itself. Possibly if I'd been a little kinder to writers or maybe the right person along the way . . . but I'm pretty satisfied with the way things have turned out, with or without it."

It is time to end the wait.. it is time for the veteran's committee to elect Dick Allen to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
